On March 18th of this year the Gasconade River rose to a flood height of 30.4 feet. This is almost one foot higher
than in the famous 1993 flood, and only one foot below the highest the river has ever been in more than 100 years of
recorded history. Arlington River Resort is in the Gasconade River Valley, at the half way point of the river just below
the Little Piney Creek, and sustained major damage during this event. Below are some pictures of the damage when
the river receded.
Rachel and I have evaluated the damage, and have decided that Arlington can be saved, and is worth the effort it will
take us to do it. This was a difficult decision for us, but at the same time very easy... Because the people who have
been here and the families who have enjoyed Arlington have shown us that it is worth it to them as well. The
out-pouring of support for us at Arlington has been overwhelming and has committed myself and Rachel that our only
choice is to rebuild bigger and better than what was here before.
We only ask that all of you are willing to bear with us, and have the understanding that it will take a whole lot of money
and even more time for us to get back to the Arlington you might remember. We will have to change some things,
because the river has changed... But we will give you our commitment that Arlington will again be the family park that
it once was, and while different, will be just as beautiful as it was before.
